Thomas COSTELLO and wife, Mary McDERMOTT left Ireland during the Great Potato Famine which took the lives of over a million
Irish. They first migrated to England where son John was born and finally to America. Their next two children, Julia and Thomas
were born in Massachusetts. They settled in the state of Minnesota, in the county of Douglas, in a town called Spruce Hill.
There they had four more children; Mary, Steven, Ellen and David Costello. Thomas and Mary were the great-grandparents of
Arleen Rose Costello, 1919~1990.
A brave Costello man falls in love with a beautiful McDermott maiden. It is most likely that the two star-crossed lovers
from this well known legend are ancestors of Thomas Costello and Mary McDermott. Or if one believes in reincarnation....?
